When a Florida man allegedly strangled a former high school classmate in 2012 and couldn’t find a good place to dump the body, he asked for help from a familiar source — his iPhone digital assistant, Siri.
“I need to hide my roommate,” Pedro Bravo asked Siri, according to state prosecutors.
“What kind of place are you looking for?” she responded.
Bravo is accused of kidnapping and strangling his friend Christian Aguilar in September 2012 when the two got into an argument over Bravo’s obsession with an ex-girlfriend, CBS Miami reports.
The chilling conversation with Siri was presented Tuesday by prosecutors as evidence during his murder trial in a photo of a screen grab from Bravo’s iPhone.
Bravo’s lawyer quickly dismissed the picture, pointing out hundreds of other screen grabs on his phone and claimed the question could have been asked by anyone.
Despite not initially knowing the whereabouts of Aguilar’s body back in 2012, cops charged Bravo with murder.
Aguilar was found dead weeks later when hunters discovered him partially buried in a remote forest about 60 miles away from Gainsville, according to CBS.
His wrists, ankles, and neck were bound with duct tape and the county’s medical examiner ruled the death as a homicide.
Gainsville police department Det. Matthew Goeckel said when cops pinpointed the locations of Bravo’s cellphone on the night of Aguilar’s disappearance, they appeared to travel toward the general direction of where the body was found.
“I can tell that the phone is still on, it tells me the phone was intentionally disconnected from the network,” he said.
In addition, Bravo’s iPhone records revealed he had strangely used the flashlight function on his phone for nearly 48 minutes and 18 seconds, according to CBS.
Prosecutors believe that Bravo drugged and strangled Aguilar in a Walmart parking lot. Additional cellphone data collected by police places both men at the scene.
The murder trial is expected to come to an end next week.
