The queen of diamonds’ jewels have gone home.
Bulgari, Elizabeth Taylor’s favorite jeweler, anonymously snapped up some $20 million of its own bling at Christie’s sale of the Hollywood legend’s prized collection — bidding from a private box at the auction house Tuesday, sources told The Post.
“Bulgari got a lot of important jewelry, including Taylor’s sapphire sautoir,” said a source. “They put a lot of companies out of the race. The numbers were off the charts.”
Bulgari could use the pieces it bought to launch an exhibition — and also reproduce the pieces for sale, the source added.
The sautoir, which includes a whopping 52.72-carat cabochon sapphire, had been estimated to fetch between $600,000 and $800,000. But the piece went for $5.9 million.
Bulgari also came away with an emerald necklace for $6,130,500, which had been estimated to sell for between $1 million and $1.5 million.
Reps for Bulgari did not respond to requests for comment.
Christie’s had estimated Taylor’s entire jewelry collection to be worth about $30 million.
Specialists came up with the value of each of the treasures based on their raw materials, craftsmanship and what each would be worth had just anyone owned it — as opposed to a legendary movie star.
But Taylor’s high-wattage star power boosted the value of the baubles to more than $137.2 million by the time the two-day sale ended yesterday.
The jewelry portion of the auction came to a close with an anonymous buyer paying more than $1.1 million for a pair of diamond-encrusted, gold wedding bands given to Taylor by Richard Burton at their two weddings, in 1964 and 1975.
Meanwhile, during last night’s couture and art portion of the auction, a signed Warhol print of Taylor went for a whopping $662,500 after a spirited bidding war. It had been estimated to sell for about $50,000.
A silver-encrusted Christian Dior evening gown and matching bag, expected to bring between $4,000 and $6,000, went for an astonishing $362,500.
A Chanel ballgown and cape combo brought in $134,500.
Another crowd pleaser — the yellow chiffon dress Taylor wore to her first wedding to Burton — was taken off the block and donated to an undisclosed US organization.
