H&M eyes ESPN Zone

The long dormant former ESPN Zone spot in Times Square may soon be bubbling back to life.

Retail brokers Amira Yunis and Gary Trock of CBRE have acted quickly to fulfill their mission to fill the vacant space at the Durst Organization’s 4 Times Square with their own fireworks.

As we first reported on The Post’s website yesterday, street snoops tell us Hennes & Mauritz, aka the Swedish fashion chain H&M, will consume the entire 45,000-square-foot space that faces West 42nd Street.

The deal ain’t done but it’s on its way.

You might recall that Express was thisclose to the finish line with Durst for the 4 Times Square location when Jeff Sutton and SL Green Realty Corp. lassoed them northward to the heart of the Bow Tie to take over 1552 Broadway — where TGIF will soon close — along with portions of Jeff Gural’s neighboring 1560 Broadway.

“We are in discussions with H&M but in this business, it ain’t over ’til it’s over,” said Jordan Barowitz, a spokesman for Durst, having earlier learned that hard lesson.

Durst’s head of leasing, Tom Bow, added that they have received “numerous” proposals for the space.
