Education officials are seeking to give the boot to a Queens administrator who they say inexplicably set off a stink bomb in the stairwell of his middle school.
A safety agent saw JHS 194 assistant principal Paul Goldberg kicking a paper bag on the floor of a basement stairwell and then stomping on it early last year — releasing a gnarly puff of fumes, according to city investigators.
Goldberg, who earns more than $110,000 in salary, told probers in the office of the Special Commissioner of Investigation that the childish prank accusation was made up by one of his “enemies” in the school safety division.
The 25-year teaching veteran declined comment when asked about the alleged incident by phone.
But Department of Education officials said Goldberg had previously failed to report catching three eighth graders writing obscene and offensive slurs in the girls’ bathroom.
A former parent at the Whitestone middle school suggested the stink bomb stunt may have been connected to feuding between school staffers and the former principal of the school — who departed last summer.
