Post’s ‘Joe Rab’ dies

Joseph Rabinovich, who spent four decades as a top editor at The New York Post before his retirement in 1998, has died. He was 93.

Rabinovich, who was known fondly as “Joe Rab,’’ died Sunday of pneumonia.

He came to The Post in 1955 as a copyreader and went on to direct the paper’s features and arts coverage, later becoming an editor for the Opinion and Editorial pages.

Funeral plans are being finalized.

He is survived by his widow, Rhea, three sons, Alexander, Joshua and Nathaniel, three brothers, a sister and two grandsons.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel at 630 Amsterdam Avenue at 91st Street.
