President Obama to golf with Tiger Woods’ coach during Presidents Day weekend

WASHINGTON — They don’t call it Presidents Day weekend for nothing!

While ordinary Americans are combing malls this weekend for discount mattresses and sets of tires, President Obama is hitting long balls in sunny Florida with Tiger Woods’ famed golf coach.

Obama is getting pointers from Butch Harmon and his son Claude Harmon III at the ritzy Floridian golf resort in Palm City.

The elder Harmon, who coached Woods, Phil Mickelson and other golf superstars, has a history schooling US presidents on the finer points of the game.

But it’s Obama’s first time taking lessons from Harmon.

“I’ve played golf with Ike, Nixon, Ford and President Bush 41,” Harmon, 69, told Golf Digest. “I know the president is a real keen golfer. I’m looking forward to it.”

The swanky Floridian is the perfect golf getaway for Obama, who plans on enjoying a “guys” weekend.

“He’s getting some well-deserved downtime . . . I don’t think the American people will begrudge him that,” said Obama spokesman Josh Earnest.

First Lady Michelle Obama reportedly will be in Aspen, skiing with their daughters.
