A powwow between the striking school-bus union and company bigwigs produced no quick solutions yesterday — and both sides insist it’s because City Hall won’t join the conversation.
Mayor Bloomberg helped organize the Gracie Mansion sit-down, but the parties say the city’s sudden removal of employee protections for drivers and matrons last month makes it integral to resolving the eight-day work stoppage.
“Despite what the mayor and his administration have said, his involvement . . . is not only completely legal but is necessary to . . . end this strike,” said Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181 President Michael Cordiello.
City Hall officials continued to insist the strike is a dispute between private companies and their employees.
