WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Come Grammy season, it may be best to avoid Chris Brown.
The Grammy-winning singer — who infamously beat up then-girlfriend Rihanna on the eve of the 2009 awards — is under investigation for an alleged assault in a West Hollywood parking lot, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said yesterday.
“The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim,” the department said in a statement.
The “victim” wasn’t identified, but celebrity-news Web site TMZ said the brawl involved Frank Ocean, a top nominee at next month’s Grammy Awards.
Ocean later tweeted that he “got jumped by [Brown] and a couple guys” and suffered a finger cut.
E-mail messages to Brown’s lawyer were not immediately returned. No arrests were made.
