Hofstra snaps skids

Stevie Mejia scored 18 points, Stephen Nwaukoni had a double-double and Hofstra (6-18, 3-8 CAA) overcame a 12-point, second-half deficit to defeat UNC-Wilmington 65-56 yesterday in Wilmington, N.C., snapping a seven-game losing streak and a 16-game road skid.

Keith Rendleman had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Cedrick Williams also scored 13 for the Seahawks (9-15, 4-8).

Iona 78, Rider 71

In New Rochelle, Lamont Jones scored 32 points after pouring in 37 in a double-overtime loss to Marist on Thursday and Iona (15-10, 9-5 MAAC) defeated Rider (13-13, 8-6) to snap a three-game losing streak. Sean Armand added 24 points for Iona, including the 1,000th of his career.

La Salle 89, Fordham 53

In Philadelphia, Sam Mills scored a career-high 21 points, hitting seven of eight 3-pointers, and Ramon Galloway was 5-of-7 from long range for 19 points as La Salle (16-6, 6-3 Atlantic 10) routed Fordham (6-18, 2-7), which has lost four straight and seven of eight.

Robt. Morris 83, Wagner 79 (OT)

In Moon Township, Pa., Lucky Jones and Russell Johnson scored 21 points apiece as Robert Morris (17-8, 9-3 NEC) defeated Wagner (13-10, 7-5) in overtime after losing a 20-point second-half lead. Kenneth Ortiz and Latif Rivers had 22 points each for the Seahawks.

NJIT 63, Chicago St. 58

In Chicago, Chris Flores scored 16 points and went 4 for 4 from 3-point range as NJIT (13-11, 4-1 Great West) beat Chicago State (7-17, 2-3).

Bucknell 60, Army 58

In West Point, N.Y., Cameron Ayers scored 19 points and Mike Muscala posted his fourth straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to help Bucknell (20-4, 7-1 Patriot League) outlast Army (10-13, 3-5), which was led by Kyle Wilson’s 14 points.

* A pair of games scheduled for yesterday will be played today due to the weather. Dartmouth will play at Cornell at noon in Ithaca, N.Y., and Harvard will visit Columbia at 2 p.m. Also, the Manhattan-Fairfield game slated for yesterday has been postponed until tomorrow at 7 p.m.
