SUSHI is a popular food choice among Meet Market daters. Something about the bite-size servings and easy-to-share menu items makes for a relaxed way for strangers to connect. So we sent Jason, 23, and Rachel, 24, to Sen, the sexy Flatiron sushi spot with high hopes. Did they find a way to get on a roll, or did the date end up fishy?

I accidentally parked on [West] 12th Street but the restaurant was on [West] 21st Street. So I ran to the restaurant, pretending not to be out of breath when I arrived late.
Rachel looks like my celebrity crush, Hayden Panettiere, and was very comfortable to be around. She asked me about my past relationships, which isn’t something I usually bring up on the first date. But after she shared some of her experiences, I opened up about mine.
Sen was excellent and the sushi I had was very fresh. Rachel didn’t want to taste my order; I’d have liked it if she tried it.
Rachel had great style and an upbeat personality. I gave her my number, a kiss on the cheek, and she left in a cab. We’ll see what happens next.

Jason arrived 10 minutes after me. I was happy to get there first, so I could scope the scene.
Jason was cute, but I noticed we were eye-level in my 5-inch heels. I always wear 5-inch heels on nights out, so the height difference threw me off.
Overall, Sen was a lovely date spot. While we shared the edamame we attempted to make conversation, but I realized we didn’t have much in common. He mentioned he’s saving to buy a house, but I love my Manhattan rental. Things like that made me feel like we were on different pages.
Jason suggested we see each other again. I said yes, but after I left, I realized I didn’t feel that spark, so we’ll see.
