‘THE WEIRD COUPLE’: Lisa McQuade, 38, told cops she shot Christopher Bonafede, 39, because of his “beatings.” (

A Staten Island mom of three fatally shot her boyfriend in the head yesterday — then aimlessly rode around on the subway for hours before turning herself in to cops, law-enforcement sources said.

“I just shot my boyfriend,’’ 38-year-old Lisa McQuade, allegedly told officers at Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal at around 4:50 p.m.

“My boyfriend has been beating me for a long time.”

With McQuade in custody, police rushed to the Arden Heights home of her boyfriend, Christopher Bonafede, 39.

They found his body lying in fetal position on the bed and surrounded by blood.

He apparently had been shot in the head.

“Looks like it’s a domestic situation that went bad,” a law-enforcement source said.

“She wanted to leave, and he didn’t want her to leave,” leading to the deadly attack.

Two of Bonafede’s five pit bulls needed to be tranquilized before cops could enter the home.

Blood was smeared on the front door of the house, police said, and at some point, a barbell had been thrown through Bonafede’s car window by McQuade.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, although it was unclear whether either was the murder weapon.

McQuade was taken to the 122 Precinct in Staten Island and later charged with murder.

Bonafede, who worked for the city Department of Sanitation, moved into the home about two years ago, neighbors said. McQuade apparently lived with him after separating from her husband.

Neighbors said they kept to themselves.

“They are kind of the weird couple on the block,” said Robert Scott, a neighbor.

Another neighbor said he heard yelling on various occasions coming from the house, and added that the cops had been called to the address more than once.

Bonafede rode a motorcycle and may have been a member of The Bridgerunners Motorcycle Club.
