Madoff aide: Unchain me

Annette Bongiorno, who is accused of helping former boss Bernie Madoff run a multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, asked a federal judge to release her from pretrial house arrest, saying she’s not a flight risk.

Bongiorno, who was released on $3 million bail in January 2011, called her confinement “punitive” and pointed to the release of Madoff’s brother, Peter, on bond after he pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Bongiorno has a curfew of 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday, said her lawyer.
