Drama Mama

Your weekly guide to TV’s best and worst one-hour shows.

Valentine’s Day. Sure, you could fight it, but why not give in to the TV brand of love this year:

“Vampire Diaries” (Thursday, 8 p.m., The CW)

OMG, yes that was Demetri (Charlie Bewley) from “Twilight” who showed up at the tail end of last week’s episode to break Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) neck. He’s back again this week to further torture the tortured vamp. And Caroline (Candice Accola) became a blood-sucker last week, courtesy of Klaus (Joseph Morgan). So, everybody on the show is pretty much a vamp or werewolf by this point, and there’s nothing more romantic than that for your teenage daughter.

“Glee” (Thursday, 9 p.m., Fox)If you’re the type who daydreams about hearts and flowers, Will (Matthew Morrison) and Emma’s (Jayma Mays) nuptials should fulfill your fairy-tale wishes. Expect “Glee”-ful serenades amid the reunion of past and present students. Mama has actually attended a wedding in lovely Lima, Ohio — it wasn’t nearly as well-choreographed, but there wasn’t a lot of room to move in that K of C hall.

“Scandal” (Thursday, 10 p.m., ABC) Sentimental mush is fine, but if you want hot and steamy, head to our nation’s capital. Power player Olivia (Kerry Washington) runs into a handsome new stranger, who happens to be cutie Scott Foley. And apparently the meeting ignites her passions just in time for her to heat up the West Wing with Prez Fitz (Tony Goldwyn).

“Necessary Roughness”(Wednesday, 10 p.m., USA)

Last night this football series launched a two-parter about a player who comes out to Callie Thorne’s Dr. Dani. (It’s part of the month in which the network combats hate, intolerance and discrimination. It’s unclear if they’re in favor it for the other 11 months.) There was enough foreshadowing to make the reveal a little less than shocking, but the story does at least address the whole pro-gay-athlete issue.

“Archer” (Thursday, 10 p.m., FX) Does amour leave you feeling cynical? Spend the evening with the sadistically animated — and dateless — Archer, who’s bored enough to rescue his ex-fiance’s new cyborg boyfriend.

“CSI: NY”(Friday, 9 p.m., CBS) And after you’ve had it up to here with love, cure your Valentine hangover with Mac (Gary Sinise) and his team, who investigate three happily-ever-after stories gone horribly wrong. Josh Groban guest stars to croon his new song, but there’s no promise that he’ll end up as one of the victims, which would make this a very special day indeed.
