Another rough Knight for Rutgers

Worrel Clahar scored 19 points to lead DePaul to a 75-69 victory over Rutgers yesterday in Rosemont, Ill., snapping the Blue Demons’ nine-game losing streak.

Brandon Young added 16 points and Cleveland Melvin scored 15 for the Blue Demons (11-14, 2-10 Big East).

They’re 1-5 at home in the Big East. Myles Mack led the Scarlet Knights (13-11, 4-9) with 28 points — 18 after halftime.

Rutgers lost sophomore guard Eli Carter who broke his right leg and will miss the rest of the season. They have lost seven of their last eight games.

Villanova 70, Connecticut 61

In Hartford, Conn., Ryan Arcidiacono scored 25 points and Villanova (16-10, 7-6 Big East) grabbed 20 offensive rebounds in beating Connecticut (17-7, 7-5).

Omar Calhoun scored 16 points to lead UConn. The Huskies came into the game having won five of their last six, including an emotional upset over No. 6 Syracuse on Wednesday.

Towson 57, Hofstra 50

In Hempstead, Jerrelle Benimon scored 17 points to lead Towson (15-13, 10-5) to a victory over Hofstra (6-20, 3-10).

NJIT 63, Utah Valley 55

Ryan Woods had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead host New Jersey Institute of Technology (14-11, 5-1) past Utah Valley (12-14, 2-4).

LIU 92, Fairleigh Dickinson

Jamal Olasewere had 20 points as LIU Brooklyn pulled away in the second half for a win over Fairleigh Dickinson (7-20, 2-12), vaulting the Blackbirds (15-11, 10-4) into a tie for first in the Northeast Conference.

Wagner 89, Bryant 75

Latif Rivers scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures, and Wagner (15-10, 9-5) pulled away from Bryant (16-8, 9-4) in the second half for a victory in Northeast Conference play.

Monmouth 73, St. Francis 64

In West Long Branch, N.J., Jesse Steele scored 26 points as Monmouth (10-17, 5-9 NEC) defeated St. Francis Brooklyn (10-15, 6-8).

Harvard 69, Princeton 57

In Boston, Harvard (15-7, 7-1 Ivy) had five players in double figures and rolled past Princeton (12-9, 5-2) in a key conference matchup.

Yale 75, Columbia 56

In New Haven, Conn., Justin Sears and Brandon Sherrod came off the bench to score 10 points apiece as Yale (10-15, 4-4 Ivy) stormed past Columbia (10-12, 2-6).
