Oprah is giving her $85-million house a makeover because — get this! — it’s too fancy.
And of course, she’s hired a big-time decorator to make the house feel more lived in, according to a report in her magazine.
“I knew my house was impressive,” she told O, The Oprah Magazine. “I mean, just about every guest I ever invited for dinner told me so as they perched on the edge of the opulent sofa, trying not to get fingerprints on anything. I owned a stately home, and I poured my heart and soul into making it perfect.”
But recently she’d started to feel it’s all too much.
“The gilded mirrors, marble urns, the lavish carpets and sherbet palette — it was all very grand, but it wasn’t very true to myself,”she said.
“It’s not easy to do an entire library that says, Do not touch the books, but somehow I managed,” she said. “Words are precious to me, so I’m looking for ways to incorporate my love of them into every room in my home.”
