Cabbie robbed, assaulted with box cutter

A 35-year-old cab driver was brutally robbed and assaulted with a box cutter in Mount Hope, cops said.

The assailant first hailed the yellow cab on Delancy and Ludlow Streets around 2:00 a.m., in Lower Manhattan on Saturday and asked for a ride to the West Bronx, according to police.

But when the cabbie arrived near Grand Concourse and East 179 Street, the suspect told him he was at the wrong location and became enraged when the driver asked him to cough up the cash before he drove to another location, according to police.

The suspect threw cash at the victim and punched him in the face but it didn’t end there.

The thief used a box cutter to slash two tires and broke both windows on the passenger’s side of the vehicle before clocking him in the face again, cops said.

Then he slashed the 35-year-old cabbie in the left wrist and back with the box cutter before taking his money back, cops said.

The victim was treated at St. Barnabas for lacerations to his wrist and back and was listed in stable condition and later released, according to police.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s was sporting a “Corona” hoodie and was last seen on East 179 Street, cops said.
