’Fess in judge hit

A man admitted yesterday to taking part in a sick plot to hire a hit man to kill a judge and prosecutor — and preserve their heads in formaldehyde as macabre souvenirs.

Djevid Mirkovic, 38, of West Palm Beach, Fla., pleaded guilty yesterday in Suffolk County federal court to conspiring with Joseph Romano, who allegedly wanted the men beheaded for their roles in sending him to prison for a Ponzi scheme.

Mirkovic faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced on a murder-conspiracy charge in June.

Federal prosecutors say Mirkovic was recruited by his Sunshine State neighborhood friend, Joseph Romano, who is serving time in prison for a Ponzi fraud scheme he operated on Long Island involving the sale of rare coins.

The assassination plot focused on Central Islip federal Judge Joseph Bianco and Assistant US Attorney Lara Gatz, who helped prosecute him.
