DJ paul admits to Taser in Hell’s Kitchen bust; Oscar-winning rapper will serve 21 days of barbecue sauce

Down-on-their-heels Vegas folks will be enjoying some primo barbecue thanks to Oscar-winning rap star DJ Paul and his penchant for both stun guns and gourmet sauces.

The rapper — real name Paul Beauregard — was sentenced in Manhattan today for carrying a Taser as he walked in Hell’s Kitchen last October, and he’ll serve his community service at a Vegas soup kitchen.

“He has a line of barbecue sauces — I’m not joking,” said defense lawyer Seema Iyer. “They’re all going to be eating a lot of barbecue and garlic butter” at the soup kitchen, the lawyer said.

Under today’s deal, Beauregard pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, and must serve 21 hours community service and pay a $120 surcharge.

Disabled from birth with one arm much shorter than the other, DJ Paul was without his bodyguard as he walked down Ninth Ave. with his wife last fall, and had carried the Taser to protect himself, his lawyer said.

Beauregard, 37, who hails from Las Vegas, won a Best Song Oscar for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” from 2005’s “Hustle and Flow.”
