Staten Island

A would-be bank robber was foiled by a teller in Westerleigh who simply refused his demands to turn over cash, police said.

The suspect walked into the Richmond County Savings Bank on Jewett Avenue near Waters Avenue at 9:35 a.m. Friday and passed a note to the teller, cops said.

The bank employee refused and the hapless crook ran out, heading north on Jewett, police added.

A woman was arrested in Mariners Harbor for lying about why she was making a 911 call, authorities said.

Candice Salvatore, 27, called at about 4:50 p.m. Tuesday and allegedly reported that there was an abandoned baby on Erastina Place near Orinoco Place — when she actually wanted police to take care of a stray dog.

“I needed to spice it up to get you guys to come faster,” she allegedly told cops.

Salvatore was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and falsely reporting an incident.

Brooklyn

A group of men attacked and tried to rob a man in front of a Brownsville barber shop, authorities said.

Melquan Johnson, 25, Joseph Murphy, 41, and an accomplice allegedly went up to the victim at 12:55 a.m. Monday and asked, “What’s popping?”

They then jumped the victim and knocked him to the ground on Pitkin Avenue near Thafford Avenue, court documents say.

One of the men slashed the victim on the back of his head with a boxcutter, while the others rummaged through his pockets, the records say.

An officer on patrol spotted the attack and radioed for backup before chasing down the suspects, law-enforcement sources said.

Johnson and Murphy allegedly fled empty-handed and were arrested a short time later.

They were hit with a slew of charges, including assault, menacing and weapons possession.

Johnson was being held in lieu of $15,000 bail, and Murphy in lieu of $35,000.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Brookdale Hospital.

Manhattan

A straphanger exposed himself to a woman on a subway train in Midtown, cops said.

The suspect was on a No. 7 train at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue at around 2:20 p.m. Feb. 20 when he flashed a female passenger, police said.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, fled at the Fifth Avenue station.

The Bronx

A knife-wielding crook slashed a cabby in Tremont, authorities said.

The suspect asked the 68-year-old driver to stop at Hughes Avenue and East 181 Street, several blocks short of his destination, at 4 a.m. March 6, police said.

The thug — whose image (pictured) was captured by a surveillance camera in the cab — then pulled a knife on the driver, demanded money and slashed him in the hand, cops said.

The attacker made off with an unknown amount of cash, cops said.

The driver was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was released after treatment for minor injuries.

Queens

A gun-toting thief is wanted for robbing two Cambria Heights bodegas.

The suspect (pictured), armed with a gun, walked into Colfax Grocery and Deli on Murdock Avenue near Colfax Street at 1 p.m. March 9, police said.

He pistol-whipped an employee and ran off with cash, cops said.

Two days later, he walked into another deli, this one on Hollis Avenue near Francis Lewis Boulevard, at 7:45 p.m. and pulled the same stunt, cops said.

The suspect is described as a being in his 20s and about 5-foot-8.

He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and gray hooded sweatshirt.
