Vito is clearly the cat’s meow

W.C. Fields reputedly warned actors to “never work with children or animals.” He should have added “. . . especially cats.”

Look no further than the Broadway production of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” where Holly Golightly’s nameless pet is a cat who, typically enough, does what he pleases.

At a recent performance, a big ginger puss named Vito Vincent handled himself well — that is, he didn’t run off or hiss — during his big scene with his stage mistress, Emilia Clarke.

He briefly upstaged her by letting out a faint meow when she cradled him, but other than that he behaved.

Still, actor Cory Michael Smith wisely held Vito in a blanket later on. The cat also looked terrific in his third scene, sitting atop a garbage can.

Unfortunately, fame may be getting to Vito’s head — or rather, his handlers’ — and Page Six reported that he’s making demands for his own driver. Don’t they know that Vito may have elbowed out his rival Montie, but an upstart called Moo is waiting in the wings, ready to go on? Don’t cats watch “All About Eve” anymore?
