Fujita retires as Saint

Scott Fujita, the Super Bowl-winning linebacker later enmeshed in the Saints’ bounty scandal, signed a one-day contract with the Saints before announcing his retirement yesterday.

Fujita, 33, finished his career with the Browns but was implicated and suspended for one game by commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in what the NFL called a performance pool designed to knock targeted opponents out of games from 2009 to 2011.

Fujita later was essentially absolved of blame by former commissioner Paul Tagliabue.

COWBOYS: Jerry Jones said his team is willing to trade from the No. 18 selection of the first round in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

Jones has made 59 draft-day trades since he purchased the team in 1989.

SEAHAWKS: Kam Chancellor agreed on a contract extension that will keep the young safety with Seattle.

The safety’s agent said it was a four-year extension.

BRONCOS: Court officials in North Las Vegas said charges have been dropped in a felony case alleging that safety Quinton Carter added $5 to craps bets after the dice were thrown.

Carter was arrested late March 9 at the Texas Station casino in North Las Vegas. Security officers alleged he was videotaped adding $5 chips to three bets.

RAVENS: Linebacker Rolando McClain was arrested Sunday in his hometown of Decatur, Ala., and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said.

McClain, 23, has had a string of legal troubles in his hometown, including being involved in a shooting in November 2011.
