Phillies pitching coach rips media over Halladay bashing

Roy Halladay had one of the worst years of his career last season with an 11-8 record and a 4.49 ERA. So when he started out 0-2 this season, it wasn’t shocking that the media began to wonder if his best days were behind him. But don’t tell Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee that.

Halladay has a 2-0 record while allowing three runs in 15 innings in his past two starts, quieting down some of the doubters, after a miserable first two starts in which he allowed 12 hits and 12 runs in 7 1/3 innings. But when the media asked Dubee about Halladay’s recent turnaround, he wasn’t opening up much about it.

“I’m not going to talk about it. Everybody bashed Roy Halladay long enough,” Dubee said, according to CSN Philly. “Now he has a couple of good ones and all of a sudden, he’s a Cy Young candidate. You guys ride that roller coaster and we’ll stay where we’re at. Let Roy be Roy.”

His resume is impressive, as Halladay is an eight-time All-Star, has won two Cy Young awards (2003, 2010), pitched a perfect game and a postseason no-hitter.
