Felon rap eyed for pol threat

Prosecutors are weighing felony charges against the upstate gun fanatic accused of making anonymous death-threat calls to Rep. Carolyn Maloney — apparently enraged by her proposed legislation requiring gun-owner insurance.

“We do have grounds for felony charges,” Assistant District Attorney Erin Satterthwaite told a Manhattan judge yesterday in asking successfully for bail to remain at $20,000 for Ronald Buchanan, 40.

Buchanan’s lawyer, Hara Robrish, argued for lower bail for the Elmira father of four. “There were no steps taken” to follow through on the threats, Robrish said.

Buchanan so far is charged with misdemeanor harassment and menacing after five threatening calls were traced to his phone, investigators said when he was busted on April 17.

“I want that bitch dead,” Buchanan said in one call, according to the criminal complaint against him. “I will f–king kill that bitch if I see her,” he allegedly said.

Maloney has said that despite receiving the anonymous death threats, she will continue pursuing the gun-insurance legislation.
