Mayoral candidate Bill Thompson earned more than his three biggest Democrat competitors combined last year.
Thompson, the only major Democrat candidate not in public office, earned $727,621 last year as a managing director at an investment firm. He also earned $47,000 from holdings.
City Council Speaker Christine reported earning $137,777. Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray jointly took in $165,207. Comptroller John Liu, whose city salary is $185,000, hasn’t released his returns.
On the Republican side, it’s a battle of the financial titans.
Joe Lhota reported an adjusted gross income of $1.96 million— mostly from his previous job as an exec at Madison Square Garden, plus $295,881 as chairman of the MTA.
Billionaire supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis said he’s filing an amended return and didn’t make it available; neither did Doe Fund founder George McDonald.
