‘Talent’ scouts

If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere. So goes the line from “New York, New York.” The contestants on “America’s Got Talent” will find out how they stand aside Streisand, Dylan, Sinatra and other talents who became big stars in the Big Apple when the show moves to New York. “AGT” has new judges — Heidi Klum of “Project Runway” and Mel B of the Spice Girls and “Dancing With the Stars.” They are flanked by the Howards, Stern and Mandel. Live performances begin July 23 at 8 p.m.

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT

Strangled with a Bible belt

Southern families are a bit like fudge — mostly sweet, but with a few nuts. In the new ID series “Southern Fried Homicide,” the bodies pile up. Take the case of the kissing cousins. After pedigreed belle Susie Newsom’s marriage fails, she spirals and starts to have an affair — with her disturbed first cousin. Their scandalous relationship results in nine other deaths in the family, spanning from Kentucky to North Carolina. Your host for the grisly proceedings is Shanna Forrestall (left).

SOUTHERN FRIED HOMICIDE

Wednesday, 10 p.m., Investigation Discovery

Rock of reality

In addition to his movie career, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is now headlining a summer reality series that puts “ordinary” people through the wringer to win $1 million. They rapell down the sides of suspension bridge towers, climb down into tunnels and perform other insanely strenuous feats that presumably prove their heroism. Obviously, not the show for you if you have vertigo. One contestant, Rachel, is a Spanish teacher and basketball coach. Another, Lydia, is a personal trainer. Athena is a former NFL cheerleader. And so forth. Mr. Johnson assigns his guinea pigs various missions that test their brains, their brawn and even their morality. Sounds like a tall order. Viewers will be polled each week to determine the contestant they consider to be the most heroic.
