This week’s couple: Round 2

When Davin, 27, was selected to go out on a previous date for Meet Market, he left discomfited — so we let him choose who to go out with next. That’s how he met Hallie, 27. The pair met at the Lower East Side Filipino eatery Pig and Khao. Did Davin have better luck this time around, or did Hallie end up wishing Davin had chosen someone else?

He said:

I wasn’t nervous, I was excited to meet Hallie after reading about her. When we met, I noticed her very curly hair, and when we started talking, I found her interesting.

We talked about work and different city neighborhoods. She has a cool job as a publicist, so it was eye-opening to hear about the book promotion business. We also talked about Astoria, Williamsburg and the Upper East Side, and how they affect our idea of someone if they live there.

Pig and Khao has a nice outdoor space, and the drinks were tasty — the lychee mimosas were my favorite. We sat in the back, watching cats climb over fences and roofs. I also had French toast, crispy on the outside and moist inside.

We walked to a store to pick up a copy of The Post. I was 50 cents short, but Hallie spotted me. She’s fun, but we didn’t have a lot in common. We exchanged numbers and went our separate ways.

She said:

Davin was attractive and tall, but he said he just woke up. He said he had been out until 9 a.m., which seemed extreme.

We talked about living in New York and our respective neighborhoods. Davin has some strong opinions on which areas are cool and which aren’t, which seemed a bit immature to me. We also talked about his beekeeping hobby.

The staff at Pig and Khao was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is colorful with an open kitchen, and we sat outside in their cute garden.

We had fun having our picture taken and left shortly after. Davin didn’t seem romantically interested in me at all, but we had a nice time. We exchanged numbers, and I’d be happy to hang out again as friends.
