School-state split

Kudos to The Post for highlighting “Albany’s New Math” (Editorial, March 28), in which the usual suspects — including Gov. Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and the United Federation of Teachers — fleece taxpayers yet again.

The solution? A complete separation of education and state — for the same reasons that make the separation of church and state a great idea.

Blue-NY blues

Betsy McCaughey hits the nail on the head with “Red States Rising” (PostOpinion, March 27).

Too bad the statistics she uses ended in 2010. Present-day numbers would likely show a much higher percentage of population shift to red states.

The proof is in the pudding: States with low or no income tax that are also business-friendly are thriving and digging themselves out of financial ruin, despite the regulations imposed by the federal government.

Blue states like New York, California and Michigan will sooner or later suffer a financial meltdown. Hopefully, when this happens, whoever is in the White House will not bail them out.

Palm Beach, Fla. is the new destination for Wall Street and many other New York firms seeking business-friendly environments.

There’s no state income tax, plenty of commercial real estate and the weather is perfect, too.

Kim’s kostume

I couldn’t help but notice the “baby doll” dress Kim Kardashian was wearing on The Post’s front page (“What the Frock?” March 27).

Besides making her look ridiculous, did anybody else think that the dress looks like one of those non-slip mats you put under a rug? That is just where she belongs — swept under the rug and forgotten about.

When I saw Kardashian on the cover of The Post, I thought she was on her way to a costume party dressed as a badminton birdie.

Thanks to GOP

Warning to all New Yorkers: A vote for a Democratic mayor is a vote for the days of high crime and free welfare and of all the wonderful giveaways that were given to keep people suppressed (“AWOL on Crime,” Editorial, March 28).

Don’t change something if it is not broken. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is out of her mind if she believes that we want a more restrictive police department at a time when crime is at its lowest.

As a gay, Hispanic, Democratic male, I will be voting Republican again, because I do not want to go back to the old days of looking over my shoulder.

New York is at the best point it has ever been — no thanks to the Democratic Party in this city, but only to the Republicans, who knew how to fix our problems and did.

Catholic clash

With all due respect, why would Timothy Cardinal Dolan welcome a pseudo-Catholic like Vice President Joe Biden, whose support for abortion and same-sex marriage is antithetical to Church doctrine (“Biden Time at St. Pat’s,” March 25)?

Biden cannot be considered one of the faithful. His positions on these sacred issues are heretical and must be denounced.
