Hell is for heroes

A final act of heroism by one of their own saves the lives of the Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) and the gang, but the loss devastates everyone, and they must carry on with heavy hearts but increased resolve. Miles (Billy Burke) sets out on a mission with Nora (Daniella Alonso) to recruit his former Militia comrade, Jim Hudson (Malik Yoba, right) and enlist his savage killing skills. Meanwhile, Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) looks for a power source and a way back into Charlie’s heart. Rachel also attempts to elude the grip of Randall Flynn (Colm Feore), her ruthless former boss.

Final act for ‘Smash’

As the final days of “Smash” get under way, the series has a new night — Saturdays, when no one is home — and a legendary guest star in Liza Minnelli. Liza with a Z shows up with Tom (Christian Borle) at a surprise party for Ivy (Megan Hilty). Tempers flare between Karen (Katharine McPhee), Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan), and Derek (Jack Davenport) just as the rehearsal for “Hit List” nears its close. In the boring category, Julia (Debra Messing) finds herself pulled away from “Bombshell” by an unlikely source. Jesse L. Martin makes an appearance.

SMASH

The morning after

We all know how this story ends. “The Bible” has been another success story for the History Channel and for Mark Burnett. In the series’ final two hours, Jesus is crucified. Mary (Roma Downey) mourns and Peter feels he has deserted Jesus. Three days later, Mary Magdalene goes to Jesus’ tomb and sees that the stone is broken. Jesus has risen and he sends his disciples out into the world to preach the gospel. The future St. Paul is blinded by a vision of the Lord on the way to Tarsus. The future St. Stephen is stoned to death. Other Apostles — Thomas, Matthew and James — are also martyred. Peter makes it to Rome and Luke writes most of the New Testament.

THE BIBLE

Tonight, 8 to 10 p.m., History Channel

Lousy, no-good perp

Finally, the only lady detective gets to do something on “Golden Boy.” Detective Deborah McKenzie (Bonnie Somerville) seeks justice for her family when bullets found at the scene of a subway shooting match the gun that killed her brother several years earlier. Meanwhile, Detective Don Owen (Chi McBride) has reservations about retiring. Detective Walter Clark (Theo James) keeps his shirt on for part of the episode.

GOLDEN BOY

Tuesday, 10 p.m., CBS

‘Nashville’ to NY

The Rayna and Juliette tour took Chicago by storm. Now, the country crooners are headed to New York. Rayna (Connie Britton) brings her daughters with her this time. She sees their behavior changing and she doesn’t like it. Drug counselor Dante Rivas (Jay Hernandez) gives Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) some guidance that helps her see him in a new way. Meanwhile, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) meet their hunky new neighbor, Will (Chris Carmack), and Gunnar discovers Scarlett is keeping secrets. Mean old Lamar (Powers Boothe) threatens Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). Avery (Jonathan Jackson) jeopardizes his own future.

NASHVILLE

Wednesday, 10 p.m., ABC

First date

Jess (Zooey Deschanel. left) and Nick (Jake Johnson), who are caught between friendship and something more, try to break out of relationship limbo by going on a “first” date. Once Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) realize a full-on Jess/Nick romance might be happening, they swoop in to try to sabotage the date. Dermot Mulroney makes a special guest appearance. This episode appears on a different night than the show’s usual Tuesday slot.
