Standing up for Christians under attack by Islamists

The Issue: Media coverage of Christian persecution by Islamists in North Africa and the Middle East.

Finally, a voice that defends our Christian brothers (“A Christian Catastrophe,” Ralph Peters, PostOpinion, April 1).

The attacks on Christians by Muslims and their followers have spread into Africa. Countries such as Nigeria and Sudan have seen Muslims attacking Christians.

Why have recent popes ignored and abandoned their Christian followers?

Why have Protestants and other Christian denominations been quick to attack the Jews in Israel, yet turn a blind eye to protect their Christian brothers in the rest of the world from Islamists?Anton Loew

Thank you, Mr. Peters. This is like a little spark in the dark.

Usually, no publication under the sun has concern for Christians in the Middle East or anywhere else, especially in the secularized, modernized Western countries.

This column gave me hope again. Let the world know again that the Gospel is the only solution for world peace.

It boggles my mind that we turn our back on Islamic destruction of Christian life and history, and yet millions of Christian groups support the BDS movement (boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel).

When will the Vatican and other Christian leaders acknowledge the hate and destruction that is emanating from Islamists?

Our love of humanity has blinded us.

Current Islamist leadership would rid the Middle East of all Christian life once it destroys Jewish life. Why doesn’t the leadership see a replay of the ’40s?

Keep up the honest, reality-based reporting.

Peters’ column was right on target. Radical Muslims have been added to the growing list of “protected classes” that cannot be criticized or accused of wrongdoing.

I agree completely with Peters’ article.

However, Israel is the only country in the Middle East where anyone can practice their religion openly in the way they see fit, unlike Israel’s neighbors, where your life is potentially in danger if you do not follow the established religion.Adina Bernstein
