Death Valley National Park to visitors: PLEASE stop trying to fry eggs on the sidewalk

When traveling through Death Valley it is best to stay hydrated, keep the AC set to “high” and please don’t fry eggs directly on the sidewalk.

That’s the message coming from Death Valley National Park’s Facebook page where maintenance crews have complained about having to constantly clean up cracked eggs, shells and cartons.

“This is your national park, please put trash in the garbage or recycle bins provided and don’t crack eggs on the sidewalks,” the post says.

Instead of cooking directly on the ground, the post implores visitors to fry their eggs in pans or tinfoil so they can clean up after themselves just like park rangers did in a recent YouTube video.

“If you’re going to do this in Death Valley, I highly recommend using a skillet because if you put it on the ground it just makes a mess,” the narrator in the video says.

Death Valley is a popular place to try out the egg-fried-on-pavement trick because it is the hottest place on Earth.

In fact, 100 years ago today a temperature of 134 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded in Death Valley, which stands as the hottest air temperature ever recorded, according to the National Weather Service.

During a recent heat wave in June, temperatures reached a staggering 129.9F.
