Weiner grand defense

I’m the victim, grandpa!

Anthony Weiner wasn’t apologizing yesterday for calling older GOP foe George McDonald “grandpa” at an AARP forum.

“At that candidate forum, personal attacks were made on me, and the people who made those attacks were booed,” Weiner said at a midday press conference.

Earlier, during a morning radio interview, Weiner, 48, said he used the term “grandpa” because McDonald, 69, is always mentioning his granddaughter.

“He talks about his granddaughter in every answer on the campaign trail,” Weiner said, without mentioning why.

At a forum last week, McDonald explained he was embarrassed to tell his 10-year-old granddaughter just why Weiner is so famous.

“`Why is he a celebrity, grandpa?’ the girl asked. And I honestly couldn’t explain,” McDonald told the audience.

The “grandpa” diss came as the candidates tussled before a forum on senior issues.

Weiner told McDonald he had anger issues.

“I don’t have anger issues,” McDonald responded.
