The Bryant Park rink is skating on thin ice.
The mother of a Washington Heights student, whose class outing to the park’s rink was upset when she slipped and fell exiting the rink, is suing the city over the Dec. 20, 2012, accident.
“Margarita Duran sustained various serious injuries including fractures to her tibia and fibula, injuries to her lower back, neck and head, and other undetermined injuries,” mom Evelyn Cruz, 38, claims in new Manhattan Supreme court papers.
“I was walking off the ice to a teacher,” Margarita, 11, recalled, “My blade got stuck in the ice and when I moved, I fell, twisted my leg and sat on it.”
Cruz, who has taken her daughter to twirl around rinks throughout the city, was angered that there were no attendants on the ice.
“I just couldn’t understand how that happened,” Cruz said, adding that it took staff five minutes to come over and help her daughter up.
Cruz charges her daughter’s middle school, Equity Project Charter, with negligence for “failing to provide an adequate amount of employees to supervise the students in their care.”
The Audobon Avenue school pays its teachers hefty $125,000 salaries.
Duran had joined classmates for the holiday season field trip last December, when the Citi Pond rink is jammed with tourists.
She was rushed away in an ambulance and got her cast off only last month. Her feet still swell and she has difficulty running, she told The Post.
She’s seeking unspecified money damages.
A spokeswoman for the city’s Law Department said, “We have not yet been served but will be reviewing the complaint.”
A second skater sued the rink in January, saying it was overcrowded.
