WH powwow on Mideast

WASHINGTON — President Obama invited heads of state of Middle East allies to the White House to discuss the civil war and refugee crisis in Syria and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, officials said yesterday.

Obama hosts the crown prince of the United Arab Emirates, the emir of Qatar, and Jordan’s King Abdullah this month and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan in May.

The US is trying to keep up the pressure to force out Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, who in a new TV interview blasted Jordan and Turkey for trying to oust him from power.

Assad accused Jordan of “playing with fire” for reportedly helping Syrian rebels.
