HOOPS: Kobe likely out for season

ETC.: Jay-Z files agent application with MLBPA

The Players Association said the rapper Jay-Z’s application to be certified as a player agent was received Thursday. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports announced last week they were partnering in the agency business, with Robinson Cano was the first client.

Cornerback Antoine Winfield is set to join the Seahawks on a one-year contract, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. Winfield, who was cut loose by the Vikings in March, joins one of the most talented defensive backfields in the NFL, likely as an extra cornerback to play in the slot.
