Watching television these days can feel like watching a star’s home movies as you’re bound to find their brother or sister on a different — or sometimes the same — show. Here are some of the siblings making (sur)names for themselves.

SISTER ACT

EMILY AND ZOOEY DESCHANEL

If you combined sisters Zooey and Emily Deschanel, they just might make the perfect woman. Zooey, 33, is the quirky one known for her portrayal of oddball roommate Jess on Fox hit comedy “New Girl.” Big sis Emily, 36, is the alluring brainiac who plays forensic scientist Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan on the long-running Fox crime series “Bones.”

TWIN POWER

AARON AND SHAWN ASHMORE

Good luck telling boyish twins Aaron and Shawn Ashmore apart. That made for perfect casting on Fox’s sci-fi drama “Fringe” when they portrayed alternate-universe versions of the same character in 2010. Shawn, born one minute after his brother on Oct. 7, 1979, currently plays serial killer-tracking FBI Special Agent Mike Weston on the Fox hit “The Following.” Aaron, meanwhile, has played a steady stream of TV roles including cub reporter Jimmy Olsen on The CW’s “Smallville” (Shawn also showed up for several episodes) and a gay Buddhist ATF Agent on SyFy’s “Warehouse 13.” He also popped up on multi-episode arcs of USA Network’s “In Plain Sight” and SyFy’s “Lost Girl.”

BLOOD BROTHERS

CHAD AND ROB LOWE

They share the same blazing blue eyes and square jawlines, but Chad Lowe is still somewhat eclipsed by big brother Rob. Chad, 45, has played Byron Montgomery since 2010 on the ABC Family drama “Pretty Little Liars,” and he earned a 1993 supporting actor Emmy for his portrayal of an HIV-positive man on the ABC’s “Life Goes On.” Meanwhile, after years of starring in such dramas as “The West Wing” and “Brothers & Sisters,” Rob, 49, is flexing his comedic muscles as a perky bureaucrat on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” Next up: a scene-stealing turn as Liberace’s plastic surgeon in the HBO movie “Behind the Candelabra.”

‘DANCING’ DYNAMOS

DEREK AND JULIANNE HOUGH

Move over, Fred and Adele Astaire. A shared affinity for the rumba, samba and cha-cha-cha has paid off for blond beauties Derek and Julianne Hough on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Derek, 27, has won three times, while Julianne, 24, has nabbed the show’s mirror ball trophy twice.

DON’T DROP THE SOAP

HEATHER AND DAVID TOM

Heather and David Tom have a knack for daytime drama. Heather, 37, has portrayed Katie Logan Spencer on CBS’s “Bold and the Beautiful” since 2007. She and David, 35, also acted together when he played Billy Abbott on “The Young & the Restless” (she played Victoria Newman between 1991 and 2003).

STAR IN THE FAMILY

JOSH AND SETH MEYERS

Seth Meyers has a brother who, like him, is a comedic actor? Really. In 2002, one year after Seth started on “Saturday Night Live,” his little brother Josh joined the cast of the Fox sketch-comedy show “MADtv,” which aired opposite “SNL.” Josh, 37, most recently popped up as a hot male gigolo on the April 4 episode of “The Mindy Project.” Meanwhile, Seth, 39, is rumored to be in the running for Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk spot after he takes over for Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” in February 2014.

OLIVER AND KATE HUDSON

Oliver Hudson is almost — but not quite — as famous as his sister, Kate. Oliver, 36, holds his own against snark machine David Spade in the CBS ensemble comedy “Rules of Engagement” since 2007. Meanwhile, Kate — who turns 34 on April 19 — stirred “Glee” fans this season as a bitter dance instructor.

TAISSA AND VERA FARMIGA

New Jersey native Vera Farmiga signed onto her first regular series role with A&E’s new “Psycho” reboot, “Bates Motel.” Perhaps she was inspired by her little sister Taissa — at age 18, she’s 21 years her junior — who played doomed Violet Harmon in Season 1 of FX’s “American Horror Story.” Taissa will be back for the next installment, “American Horror Story: Coven,” this fall.
