Correction officer accused of shooting his OWN SON in fight over shoplifting arrest

A city correction officer, disappointed that his 17-year-old son was not punished more severely for shoplifting, was charged last night with shooting the teen in their Queens home, sources said.

Quasaun Smalls showed up at the family’s Woodside house at 4:30 a.m. yesterday, after cops let him go with a desk-appearance ticket for allegedly taking merchandise from a Home Depot.

His dad, Robert, 39, had wanted his son to be held and put through Central Booking for an arraignment hearing, the sources added.

A confrontation ensued and the teen wound up with a bullet in his stomach. The father called 911 and the youth is in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital.

The dad allegedly used his service weapon in the shooting. He was charged with assault and weapons possession.

The father and son have a history of filing police complaints against one another.
