Taylor Swift can’t hold onto a man, but she sure can, in theory, rule a group of people through fear and violence.

A Pinterest page has been posting quotes from Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden and Joseph Stalin and attributing them to Taylor Swift. And users bought it. The moderator has since taken the page down because it “has become a bit too much of an Internet phenomenon for me to handle,” she wrote on the newly blank site.

Before she deleted the pictures, one photo of Swift with a quote that reads “Do not compare yourself to others. If you do so, you are insulting everyone” had been repinned nearly 300 times. Of course, that wasn’t said by the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer, it was the leader of the Third Reich. But one user posted in response “Your a genius” and another wrote “This is amazing!”

The page is run by the user Emily Pattinson, who admits on Twitter (@poopcutie): “Yes I am the girl who started Hitler Quotes Attributed To Taylor Swift.” Her last name likely is not Pattinson as her affinity for Robert Pattinson shows on social media.

“The only good that could come out of this would be if Taylor Swift acknowledges it and it pisses her off,” Pattinson tweeted Friday morning.

The Hitler quote “great liars are also great magicians” has 36 repins. Pattinson’s latest Swift quote is actually from former Soviet leader Stalin: “It isn’t history that makes heroes, it is heroes that make history.”

You can almost hear Swift singing that in her next hit single. Almost.

Pattinson writes that she had a good reason for the satirical site — to make a statement on the current social media world.

“The moral of the story is that you should always check the validity of things you post before you share them,” the new Pinterest page says.
