Rex Ryan continued saying little to nothing on the Jets quarterback competition in his Friday conference call, but one of his former players echoed the thoughts of the rest of the NFL.

Damien Woody, who played from the Jets from 2008-10, gave his thoughts on the never-ending Jets’ drama that will continue at least through Wednesday.

Ryan said the Jets will know more about Mark Sanchez’s shoulder injury on Wednesday, five days before the season opener against the Bucs. It’s assumed the beleaguered Sanchez would start over rookie Geno Smith, if healthy.

Smith threw three interceptions against the Giants last week in his only significant playing time of the preseason. To the consternation of some, Sanchez relieved Smith in the fourth quarter of that game and played with a group of unproven players leading to a big hit by the Giants’ Marvin Austin and the bruised shoulder. The Jets have been tight-lipped on the injury and Ryan said Tuesday he may not name a starter until the morning of the Jets opener.
