Anti-Social cyberattack

LivingSocial said that more than 50 million customers may have been hit by a cyberattack, and it’s working with law enforcement to investigate.

The daily deal coupons site is communicating with customers who may have had data breached, the Washington, DC, company said yesterday. That includes clients everywhere the site operates, except Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

CEO Tim O’Shaughnessy informed employees an attack on its computer systems resulted in compromised names, e-mail addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords, but not credit card information.

LivingSocial is recommending affected users create a new password, and if they use the same password on other sites, to change it accordingly.
