Treading on free speech

A “Don’t Tread on Me” flag, hoisted by veterans on public property in Westchester, has been ordered down because of its recent association with the Tea Party.

A conservative law firm says the city of New Rochelle is trampling on free speech. The veterans say their flag had nothing to do with the Tea Party.

But City Manager Charles Strome says there were community complaints that the flag makes a political statement that shouldn’t be allowed on public land.
