Two heartless thieves ripped a chain off an old man’s neck as he headed home in The Bronx from a pre-Mother’s Day trip to buy flowers for his deceased wife’s memorial photo, cops said yesterday.
The man, 78, fought back when Charles Hackett, 23, and a cohort confronted him on East Tremont Avenue near Southern Boulevard at 12:35 p.m. Friday, cops said.
But they overpowered him and snatched a chain and pendant off his neck, police said. Narcotics officers in the area witnessed the robbery and quickly responded.
Hackett was charged with robbery, but the other thug fled, and the chain and pendant were not recovered.
