NFL: Packers extend Rodgers for $110 million

The Packers signed QB Aaron Rodgers to a five-year contract extension through the 2019 season. The deal reportedly is worth as much as $110 million, with $40 million guaranteed.

GOLF: Guan makes cut in New Orleans

Guan Tianlang, the 14-year-old Chinese amateur who made the cut at the Masters, made the cut at the Zurich Classic in Avondale, La., after carding a 3-under 69 in the second round. In the opening round he shot a 72. He is nine shots behind tournament leader Lucas Glover,who shot a 67 and is one shot ahead of Boo Weekley.

Rick Pitino followed through yesterday on his promise to get a tattoo if the Louisville Cardinals won the NCAA championship, adorning his left shoulder blade with the school’s old-English ‘L’ emblem in red. The emblem is perpendicularly surrounded by the words “2013 NCAA champions, 35-5.’’

MLB: Tigers’ Sanchez fans 17 Braves

Anibal Sanchez (3-1) struck out 17 in eight innings as the Tigers blanked the Braves 10-0 in Detroit. Sanchez set a team record for strikeouts in a nine-inning game, and he had a mathematical chance of tying the major league mark of 20 when he was pulled after eight innings and 121 pitches.

Jordan Zimmermann pitched a complete-game one-hitter as the Natinals beat the Reds 1-0. Xavier Paul had the lone Cincinnati hit in the third inning
