Just punishment

State Sen. Greg Ball’s comments on the scum who allegedly bombed the Boston Marathon were spot on (“Upstate GOPer’s Tortured Logic,” April 21)

Anyone who is satisfied with only a successful prosecution and conviction, in which the perp gets “three hots and a cot,” along with free medical services for life, at the expense of the taxpayers whose legs he blew off, needs to adjust their sensibilities.

What we need are more Balls.

Taking tax online

Even the name “Marketplace Fairness Act” sounds like it’s right out of an Ayn Rand novel, as does the White House’s claim that it will “level the playing field” (“NY’s E-Tax Stacks,” April 24).

No surprise, then, that the White House is endorsing it. President Obama has never seen a tax he didn’t like.

If the real goal is to level the playing field then how about a flat tax? Why do the more fortunate have to pay more?

Could the president be contradicting himself?

Havens in heaven

On April 22, the words of singer Don McLean in “American Pie”— The Day the Music Died — came true with the passing of Richie Havens (“Music Legend Havens Dies, 72,” April 23).

I was there at Woodstock when he took the stage. It is still one of the most memorable times of my life.

Thank you. Rest in peace.

Revis’ deals

How are we to believe Darrelle Revis when he claims he was misled by the Jets’ front office regarding his future with the team (“Darrelle Revis’ Farewell Tour,” April 23)?

How conveniently he forgets signing several contracts and then insisting that they be torn up and renegotiated.

We have no way of knowing what was actually told to him, but when it comes to showing some integrity, this guy doesn’t have a leg — or a knee — to stand on.

Naked act

According to a review by Elizabeth Vincentelli of “The Testament of Mary,” it is perfectly fine that a washed-up actress blasphemes the Catholic religion (“Charismatic Fiona Shaw Plays Jesus’ Mother as an Angry, Troubled Parent,” April 23).

In order to draw any kind of audience, Fiona Shaw must perform in the nude while desecrating Catholic dogma.

If this has-been was any kind of actress, she wouldn’t have to pull stunt after stunt to get an audience.

We wouldn’t pay a dime to watch someone insult and ridicule any person’s religion.

No more twit pics

Disgraced ex-congressman Anthony Weiner gave a series of interviews to do his mea culpa, prior to running for mayor of New York City, in which Weiner stated that he “can’t say” if there were more outlandish photos of him on social media (“Weiner Re-members: More Pix Out There,” April 25).

If he can’t say whether those pictures do or do not exist, I would strongly recommend that if Weiner runs, the good people of New York deny him until he is more forthcoming, rather than accept his gibberish.
