Jon Jones (18-1) suffered a compound fracture of his big toe, but still somehow managed to defend his title. The UFC light heavyweight champion beat Chael Sonnen (28-13-1) by TKO at 4:33 of the first round at UFC 159 at the Prudential Center. Jones, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, bullied Sonnen, slammed him down and hit him with a barrage of punches and elbows against the cage to finish things.

In an undercard bout, Ovince St. Preux accidentally poked Gian Villante in the eye 33 seconds into the third round causing the former Hofstra All-American football player to lose his debut match.
