Bloomberg’s closeup

The political fortunes of Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) have overshadowed some of the legal stories this season on “The Good Wife.” Which means that Peter’s story may be more interesting than the story of his wife and her struggles to hide her devious personality. Well, so here we are: the season finale. It’s the night of the election and young Zach Florrick believes he’s witnessed vote tampering. No! Alicia (Julianna Margulies), Will (Josh Charles) and Diane (Christine Baranski) race to a series of emergency court proceedings connected to that revelation. Meanwhile, an unlikely source offers Cary (Matt Czuchry) aid to start his own firm — gotta be that officious bean counter played by Nathan Lane. Estelle Parsons guest stars along with Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, Gloria (Sofia Vergara) challenges Jay’s (Ed O’Neill) claims of always wanting to become a novelist, forcing Jay to take some shameful measures. Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) make a costly mistake while executing tooth fairy duties with their daughter.

When hipster record producer Liam (Michiel Huisman) invites wistful country diva Rayna (Connie Britton) to run away with him to finish her album, Deacon (Charles Esten) burns. Junkie mama Jolene (Sylvia Jefferies) warns Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) about Dante’s (Jay Hernandez) shaky loyalty. Political flunkie Teddy (Eric Close) faces off with ho-on-the-go Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) about tabloid leaks, and Rayna’s sister, Tandy (Judith Hoag) proposes a new alliance to Coleman (Robert Ray Wisdom). Gunnar (Sam Palladio, above left) hangs out with the hunky neighbor boy (Chris Carmack), and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) reconnect.

How they lost it

In a series of flashbacks, Jess (Zooey Deschanel, above right), Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and Cece (Hannah Simone) tell one another how they each lost their virginity.
