De La Hoya KOs suit

Boxer Oscar De La Hoya won round two of his legal battle against a former Maxim model yesterday when an appeals court called her $5 million assault suit against him “baseless.”

Angelica Cecora’s claims that the retired welterweight imprisoned her in his Ritz Carlton hotel room during a kinky, cocaine-fueled tryst in 2011 “were without merit,” a five-judge panel at Manhattan’s Appellate Division ruled.

Cecora challenged a lower-court ruling last year that slapped her with a $12,500 judgment for legal fees and a fine for what Justice Paul Wooten described as an attempt to “harass or maliciously injure” De La Hoya.

De La Hoya’s attorney, Judd Burstein, had dubbed the allegations “superfluous” and “designed to humiliate” his client.
