Rolle asks for fans help in turning around Giants season

The Giants have played one home game this season and Antrel Rolle knows his team hasn’t given the fans much of anything to get excited about in this 0-4 start. Rolle, though, is exhorting the fans at Sunday’s game against the Eagles at MetLife Stadium to help ignite the struggling Giants.

“We have to make our home our home, when you go out there and lose, your home is not your home anymore, so we have to go out there and we have to claim it,’’ Rolle said Tuesday on his weekly WFAN spot. “Let other teams know this is our home and they can’t just come in here and just kick our ass at their own will.

“That’s something I want to ask for all of our great fans we have out there, just bring the enthusiasm, bring the excitement. We want to hear that loud noise, we want to hear that roar like we heard when we were making our Super Bowl run when we were playing against Atlanta. That was the loudest I’ve ever heard a stadium in my life. We need that same intensity from our fans. We know we haven’t given them much to get fighting for, to rah-rah-rah for, but just to bring it. We promise you we’re gonna bring our best.’’

Rolle on Monday said he thinks the Giants can go 12-0 the rest of the way, a belief he shared with his teammates after receiving permission from coach Tom Coughlin to speak at the morning team meeting. Rolle stands firmly with Coughlin, stating, “Coach Coughlin has nothing, nothing, nothing to do with what we’re showing on Sundays.’’

As for the Eagles, Rolle said, “They have something different that they bring to the table. We all understand they have exceptional athletes on their offensive side of the ball with [Michael] Vick and LeSean McCoy, [DeSean] Jackson, [Brent] Celek, they have a lot of options, they have a lot of threats. We have our work cut out for us, but nothing we can’t handle.’’

As for getting back their season after an 0-4 start, Rolle says the Giants can’t get it all back at once.

“It’s gonna take one game at a time,” Rolle said. “You can’t go into a casino table and lose $100 and go back and try to get your $100 all at once. You’re going to continue losing money, losing money. But if you play it $25 at a time, eventually you will get your money back. That has to be our mentality, we have to go out there and take it one game at a time and eventually those bucks will build.”
