Britney Spears is back with new video

Britney Spears may very well have her groove back. The brand new music video for her latest single, “Work B—h,” off her yet-to-be-named eighth studio album sees Britney giving her most enthusiastic performance in years.

Hopes were high for the music video, given the track’s deliciously weird lyrics and beats so sick they require immediate voguing. But then again, at this point, when are hopes not high for anything Britney does? No matter how many times she phones in a dance number, lip syncs her way through a chorus, or stumbles through an interview with pre-approved questions, the masses still show up for what’s next. After her fall from grace years ago, each reinvention brings hope for a return to Britney at her prime, a killer dance machine oozing with sex.

Directed by Ben Mor (who also is responsible for the decidedly less exciting video for “Scream & Shout), the “Work B—h” video is easily the most present Britney has looked since prior to her meltdown. Granted, the choreography isn’t exactly complex, but what she does do is both tantalizing and endearing. And sure, there’s a lot of hairography and sharp cut-aways to distract from the general lack of movement, but beggars can’t be choosers.

And can we talk about how fresh her look has gotten? Somebody clearly got a new makeup artist, and the styling is shockingly flattering. Britney Spears may, in fact, be reverse-aging.

With a two-year residency in Vegas beginning at the end of the year, things just got a lot more interesting.
