‘Mandy Lane’ is half-baked horror

A slightly artsy attempt to revive the teen slasher movie, “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane” drifts awkwardly between popcorn entertainment and angsty mood piece.

High schooler Mandy (Amber Heard), who is so hot that boys will practically kill themselves to grab her attention, goes off to a weekend party in a country house with half a dozen pals. Amid all the drugging and drinking, an unseen stalker with a shotgun starts to mow them down.

The vapid Heard looks half-asleep most of the time, and the audience is likely to join her there as a series of stock characters lines up to be slaughtered. An especially ridiculous ending helps explain why this film has been sitting on the shelf so long that it should have been called “I Know What You Did in 2006.”
