It looks as if Vito Lopez is up to his old tricks.
Forced out of the state Assembly by a sex-harassment scandal, the shamed Brooklyn pol is trying to stage a comeback by running for the City Council in his old Bushwick district. And main rival Antonio Reynoso is charging that Tommy Torres, another contender, is a Lopez plant whose job is to draw enough ballots in a multicandidate field so that Lopez can slip through the September Democratic primary by diluting the votes against him.
Torres was last in the news in 2012, when The Post reported he was dating then-state Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera — who hired him as a part-time aide even as he was working as a full-time city teacher.
“Vito and Tommy are a desperate duo. A fake spoiler candidate won’t change the reality of my growing support,” Reynoso told The Post yesterday.
Reynoso’s campaign consultant, Doug Forand, added, “The clearest evidence is the fact that you have [state Sen.] Marty Dilan, who is entirely a Vito creation, walking Tommy Torres around and generally being supportive of his campaign.”
Torres’ phone mail box was so full that a message couldn’t be left seeking comment.
Lopez’s campaign manager said there is no Lopez-Torres alliance.
